Disneyland Paris Day 2...14 hs

Friday night when we showered we learned that instead of not having enough hot water…like at our apartment…we have way too much at our hotel! It was scalding hot or it was cold. We both took really really hot showers. It felt good though because we were freezing from being in the cold all day and our muscles were sore so it kept us from getting any tighter. We watched a little tv after we showered because we had Disney Channel in English. We fell asleep as soon as we turned off the lights. I don’t think I moved at all in my sleep. I sat my alarm for 6:15 but didn’t actually get up till 6:30. It was so cold in our room and it seemed like I had just fallen asleep. Morgan was already up though because she straightened her hair. I got up and we got ready and headed down to breakfast at 7.
They had fruit and pastries for breakfast. I had a bowl of fruit salad and 2 croissants with butter and strawberry jam on them. The croissants were delicious. I also had a cup of orange juice and some hot chocolate to try to warm up before venturing out into the cold for a 14 hour day of Disneyland!! We had a short photo shoot with the St. Louis sign on the outside of our hotel and then got on the bus to head off to the park for Extra Magic Hours. We got to spend 2 hours at the park with just the Disney hotel guests. If we thought the lines were short yesterday they were ridiculous this morning. We walked straight onto Space Mountain and then did it immediately again but it’s such an amazing ride. The only problem is for some reason it was really jerky and made both of our heads and necks hurt. We decided we were done with that one for the day.
We rode the Oribitron next since we hadn’t ridden it the day before. It was like Dumbo only you ride in a space ship and it’s a lot faster. Since there was very little line we each got our own space ship and took fun pictures while we were flying. It was a lot of fun and we got cool pictures of each other and the park because it was high but it was super cold since it was fast. We rode Buzz Lightyear again and I did just as bad…I’m just not good at shooting laser guns. We left Discovery Land and headed over to Fantasy land. They only had a few rides open early but they were ones we liked and wanted to ride again. We rode Dumbo first…it was cold and there was only one Dumbo left when we got on so we had to share and didn’t get the fun pictures we were hoping for. We rode Pater Pan again next because there was no line. It is a cool ride and we discovered new things about it since we were paying more attention to the details and not the overall ride this time. When you first take off from the houses window the houses get smaller and smaller under you until they are just lights. They are so realistic they have little tiny cars driving on the roads. Also when you are in Neverland you fly over volcanoes that have real lava in them. The lava looks like Styrofoam broken up into the tiny little balls and it has lights in it that turn the balls red, orange, & yellow as it blows around to look like it’s erupting.
The line for Lancelot’s Carousel was really short so we rode that before we went back to Main Street to get ready for the park to open for real. It was the biggest carousel I had ever seen…much less ridden. It was 5 rows deep and the horses just got bigger as they went outward. They were normal sized in the center ring and huge on the outside. They were gorgeous horses too and the carriages were huge too…big enough for like 8 people to ride in them. We each picked a horse and took pictures before the ride started. I enjoyed acting like a little kid and ridding the carousel again.
The park was going to be opening soon so we went make to Main Street so we could be at the entrance to Frontier Land. We wanted to ride Big Thunder Mountain as soon as it opened. It wasn’t quite time yet so we went into a little bakery on Main Street because it smelled amazing. They had all kinds of special things for Halloween. Morgan decided she wanted a cupcake with orange icing and a little ghost on top. I picked our cheesecake shaped like Mickey on a stick. It was coated in chocolate and covered in sprinkles. It looked so good…only one problem…it wasn’t cheesecake. It turned out to be meringue and I didn’t find this out until after I bit into it. I found out I don’t really enjoy meringue.
It was about five till 10 so we went back out to the entrance to Frontier Land. There was a huge crowd of people so we waited until the park opened. We weren’t quite sure where the ride was but once they opened the doors we followed all the people running. The ride wasn’t quite open yet so we stood in yet another crowd and had to fight to not be cut in front of. Once they opened the ride it went really quick and it was a fun ride. It was kinda like the Mine Train at Six Flags only bigger and faster. We wondered around Frontier Land for a while checking everything out. We took some fun pictures with a few more pumpkin statues. One was a cauldron with a hole for your head and I took Morgan’s picture in it. When she was getting out some lady was walking by and screamed so loud…apparently Morgan is scary…that lady is in for a shock if she rides some rides and she thought someone walking around a statue is scary.
We walked through Adventure Land while we were wasting time till the characters we wanted to see started at 11:15. The Indiana Jones ride only had a 5 minute wait so we rode that while we were there. It was really short. I think they spent more on the decorations then the actually ride. It was fun though just cold cause it was all outside. We took some pictures and then it was time to head back over to Frontier Land to start our character picture extravaganza. We started with Jack the skeleton man from The Nightmare before Christmas. His wife Sally was supposed to be there but she wasn’t yet since we were there at the very beginning but that was ok. Next we headed over to Woody’s Roundup. We thought it was just going to be Woody and Jesse from Toy Story but there were actually a lot of characters there. Chip & Dale were right inside the gate dressed up as ghosts. They kept acting like they were scaring people…it was hilarious. The first characters we took pictures with were Goofy & Pluto. Morgan went first and then me. Whenever I went in to have my picture taken Goofy had us play ring around the rosey first. Morgan got a good picture of us and it’s super funny. Next in line was Mickey & Minnie dressed in their Halloween costumes. Then we got to take pictures with Woody and Jessie. When Morgan was getting her picture taken Jessie wouldn’t pay attention…she was trying to talk to these girls across the area that she knew. Finally Woody just took a pic with Morgan and then Jessie posed in the front. She did the same thing with me too. After we finished up in Woody’s Roundup we got our faces painted by these ladies for free! I got a pumpkin on my face and Morgan got Jack. When we passed back by Sally was there so we got a picture of her but didn’t wait in line to get a picture with her. Went back to the entrance to Frontier Land and they had real life Pumpkin People to take pictures with…they were kind of weird but took fun pictures. When we finished up with them we left Frontier Land and went to Main Street to continue with the characters.
Pooh was first…or Winnie as they all call him here. A little boy in front of us in line kept hollering “Winnie, Winnie” trying to get Pooh’s attention. I was adorable. Pooh was dressed up as a bee so we have fun pictures with him. There were more Pumpkin People dressed differently on Main Street that we took pictures with too. We shopped a little while on Main Street and got to see Mary Poppins and the penguins with her. When we got done on Main Street we decided to eat lunch before we headed off on the rest of our day. We picked Casey’s Corner on Main Street were they specialize in hot dogs which sounded awesome. We each got a hotdog with cheese sauce, fries and a drink. We ate inside since it was still freezing outside…we needed a break from the wind. The hotdogs weren’t on buns…they were on a soft baguette with a slit in the middle for the hotdog to fit into. They were good and the fries were super hot. Once we finished we went through Fantasy Land to shop a little at a store Morgan wanted to see. On our way through Aurora…sleeping beauty…was on stage for her performance in front of the castle. After we looked through the store we rode the Snow White ride. It was like the Peter Pan ride except we were in cars named after the 7 Dwarfs and we got see the story of Snow White. After the ride we went onto Adventure Land to try to see Aladdin. We looked around all the little stores right there until he was supposed to show up…which he never did. We looked at all the Princess dresses wishing they came in our sizes. When we finally gave up on him showing up we went to Adventure Isle to explore. You could look through part of a cave thing and go up into the Swiss Family Robinson’s treehouse. We had pretty much seen and done everything in Adventure land we thought so we went back to Fantasy land. We finally found the Storybook ride we had taken a picture of from the Queen of Hearts castle the first day. You rode in a little boat through all the countries of the storybooks. They were all so tiny and intricate it was awesome. We checked out the list of rides once we were done and realized we had one more ride we hadn’t done yet because it was hidden and we hadn’t seen it yet. It was Star Tours…based on Star Wars. It was a simulator that took us on a rough flight through space. It kinda made me sick…I didn’t really enjoy it a lot.
After Star Tours it was time for the parade again. There was a special Halloween parade before the one we watched yesterday so we wanted to see it. I got us our free hot chocolates again while Morgan got us seats. We sat on the opposite side of the street so we could see the other side of the floats in the main parade. There was still like 20 minutes till the parade started so the cast members that were on the street to make sure everyone stayed out of the way of the floats started playing with all the little kids. It was really cute. The Halloween parade was the pumpkin people dancing around and the villain son a float. It was really fun. We also got to see the other side of the floats from yesterday and that was cool cause we missed some major stuff and hadn’t even realized it.
When the parade was over we headed back into Adventure Land because when we had found out we missed Star Tours we also saw that there was an Aladdin walk through story that we hadn’t seen. When we got there we realized we had taken pics of it that morning when we were waiting for Aladdin and hadn’t realized it wasn’t just a restaurant. It was really cool and had little window like things that told the story. We wondered around for a while looking at more stores and through Adventure Land. We found stuffed animals that looked like our ears so we took pictures with them. We also found this back rock formation with a waterfall and took some pictures there. We were heading back to Main Street get our ice cream dinner before the Mickey’s Party with Villains show and we saw the villains passing us and took a few pictures.
We got our dinner at Gibson Girls’ Ice Cream Parlor. We each had a waffle cone with 2 scoops of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream…chocolate fudge brownie and cookie dough. They were amazing even though it was freezing standing outside eating them while waiting for the show to start. The show was pretty good. It was Mickey and his friends dancing with a bunch of cast members. The villains showed up at the end. They danced some too and I got a ton of pictures. The villains stayed in the front of the stage for a long time after the show so we got pictures of them up close. Morgan really wanted a picture with the witch from Sleeping Beauty but we couldn’t get close enough and then the cast members made them leave just as we got to the front to talk to her. We were sad.
It was getting dark so we went to ride Phantom Manor in the dark. We took pictures out front in the coffin before we went it. It wasn’t really any different in the dark but we were able to figure out when we fell out the window and died on the ride. When we got out of the ride it was completely dark so we took cool pictures of all the tombstones outside the ride. I learned that my camera is really bad at taking night pictures. After we got done taking pictures of the tombs we went back to Main Street to take pictures of the castle all lit up at night. It looked awesome. Main Street itself was lit up too so we took pictures of that as well. We didn’t really have anything left that we wanted to accomplish before the park closed in like 2 hours so we walked through the other 3 lands so we could take pictures of everything lit up at night. It looks so different at night than it does during the day. When we were in Adventure Land taking pictures of Agrabah in the dark I looked down in a gift shop and they had a whole basket of American license plates. Right on top was a Missouri plate…I had to take a picture with it cause it was just too cool.
We went back to Main Street to go through all the stores and pick out everything we wanted to buy Sunday so we wouldn’t have to waste time looking when we could still be riding rides on our last day. Also so we knew how much we could spend on lunch tomorrow and still be able to get everything. I picked out something for everyone and then it was 5 minutes till the park closed. We went back out to in front of the castle and took pictures of it lit up without anyone in front to it. We also took more pictures of Main Street without a ton of people on it. We finally left the park and headed out to the bus stop. We saw this building in Disney Village that had neon lights on the side. It showed you everything it had inside in pictures. We waited there to get a picture of the bowling pins and ball. We walked to the bus stop and saw that a bus was sitting there so we started running trying to catch it…it of course pulled away right before we got to it. We got to wait for that bus to get to our hotel, drop the people off, and get back to pick us up. It took a while and a ton of people showed up while we were waiting so we were crammed on the bus when it did get back. Our hotel was all lit up when we got back so we took pictures outside in the cold before we went in. I needed some real food since we had only had ice cream for dinner…I wasn’t feeling very good…so I stopped in the bar and got a sandwich and a soda and we went up to our room. Morgan showered while I ate my dinner and then I jumped in while she got ready for bed. The amazingly hot water felt amazing as sore as we both were. Lying in bed felt even better though. I turned the tv off once I climbed into bed and we were both out instantly. We had our alarms set for 5:45 Sunday morning so we could get up and packed and drop our backpacks off in the luggage room before breakfast.
