Let me fill you in on the exhausting last few days.
Tuesday we got up and went to our first class. That class is very interesting. We had to fill out a sheet with our term paper topics and we get those back next week to see if he is ok with them. Hopefully he is because I'm actually kind of excited to research mine. I chose to look at the way teammates iteract wtih their coah and each other depending on the age/age difference of their coach. I'm going to use my cheerleading experience with Mrs. Wamble and Erica as my jumping point. After class we got some lunch and looked up stuff for the Wednesday in Munich...Munchen (moon-chin) in German...before our next class. That class is super annoying and we weren't sad we had to leave at our normal break to catch our train to Paris. During class our professor finally gave us the group assignment we read about in the sylabus but hadn't known anything about. We needed to find a group of 5-6 people and we weren't sure who cause we knew anyone in the class. Luckily as we were leaving at our break at 2:30 a few people stopped us outside the door asking us to be in there group. We agreed and gave them our emails. We were happy to have a group and not have to worry about that and we hurried home to get our stuff packed up for the day.
We caught the bus to the metro and then the metro to the train station. Our train left at 4:05 and we didn't get to sit together. :( We were each in the window seat and we both had people sit in between us. My lady didn't talk to me at all and the guy Morgan sat next to talked a lot...but in French...even after she told him she didn't speak French. We got to Paris and caught our overnight train to Munich. We were in a six passenger little compartment...it reminded me of Harry Potter...we were all to ourselves. We kept thinking we were going to pick up some more people but no one ever came in. We had a bag of chips for dinner and then just enjoyed ourselves. I sorted through all of my pictures from Disneyland and wrote down all the pictures I want in each album...I think I ended up with like 8 albums. I will get those up as soon as I can. After that I watched an episode of GREEK on my computer and then it was about to die so I watched the other 3 I had on my Ipod touch. It was starting to get tired and Morgan was trying to fall asleep so I turned off the light and stretched our on the 3 seats on my side of our compartment. We both slept alright and woke up at 6:30 right before we got to Munich at 7.
We got off the train and started exploring the city. We walked a long way and our backpacks were really hurting us so we went back to the train station to hopefully find a locker to use for our backpacks and it was almost time for the tourist info place to open. We were able to find a locker and store our backpacks. We just kept out our jackets, cameras, and wallets. We looked around the stores in the train station then headed next door to the tourist place. We looked through all the brochures and decided to go on a 2 hour walking tour of the city for 10 Euros a piece. We headed back to where we had walked before and that was the meeting place for the tour. We stopped on the way there and got a soda cause we were worn out already.
The tour was awesome. Our tour guide was from Canada and there were people on our trip from the US and Austrailia. We saw the important buildings in Munich as well as an English Garden. In the garden there was a nudist section...that only had old men it was nasty...and there were all kinds of rivers and creeks running through the park. At one place in the park they put in something in the river to help airate the water and people were surfing becuase it made awesome waves. We watched them for a while.
After the tour we went back to the place where we got our drinks and got a pretzel with cheese on it for lunch. We sat down in the AC...which felt awesome...to relax before we headed back out for the last 2 hours we had in Munich. We went back to watch the surfers more and take more pictures. Some of them were awesome...and some not so much...but it was super fun. We retraced our steps from the tour to get back to the mall we walked through cause Morgan wanted to look at a purse she had seen. It was super expensive so we headed back to the train station cause it was about time for our train. We got out our backpacks and went to see what platform our train was on. We got on the train and sat down which felt nice after walking so much again. We were worried though becuase this train got into Strasburg, Germany at 6:47 and our train on to Paris left at 6:54. We were at the door waiting when we stopped and the conductor made some announcement about the connecting train...we were assuming it was about which platform it was on...but neither one of us could understand him. Luckily when we hurried off the train I noticed that the train right next to us was our train...we hurried to our car and got on. We even had a little time to get situated before the train left. I fell asleep pretty fast cause I was exhausted. We got into Paris at 10:35 and caught the metro to the train station we were leaving from this morning. We took another short metro to get closer to our hostel since it was nighttime. We got off the metro and walked the few blocks to our hostel. We got checked in and went up to our room. We were both exhausted and felt discusting and just wanted to sleep. There were 4 other girls in our room and one was asleep but the others werent' We got out our sleep sacks and changed into shorts to sleep. We went to the bathroom then put our backpacks into our sleep sacks so no one could get into them while we slept. We climbed into bed about 11:30 and the girls still had the lights on. Luckily I have a little hood on my sleep sack so I covered my eyes with it and fell asleep. We got up at 4:30 and got changed and packed up to go. I folded up my sleep sack and realized as I walked out of our room that I hadn't put my phone away and just assumed it was in my sleep sack. After we checked out i decided to check my sleep sack since we still had time...luckily I did cause my phone wasn' there. I got our key back and went back to our room and it was halfway under the pillow so I hadn't seen it when i looked for it. I came back down and we were off to the metro.
When we got there it wasn't open yet but we figured it opened at 5 like the one here so we waited for a few minutes. When it was 5 after we were beginning to get a little nervous since it was dark and we were 2 girls alone. I looked at a sign across the street and noticed it said something about the city busses. I kept watching and luckily it had the metro on it too...which didn't start till 5:30. We had the directions to the train station so we just walked...quickly. We didn't see anyone out so it wasn't bad. We made it to the train station fine and found our train would be there soon. We sat down and waited and then when a store opened at 6 we walked around in there cause we were so tired and sitting was making us fall asleep. We found candybar 3 packs for 2 Euros when a normal one was 1 Euro. Morgan got twix and I got Mars bars. I had never had one before but they are everywhere here. The pictures look just like a Milky Way so I figured I'd like it. Right after we left the store our train was posted and we got onto it. I fell asleep as soon as we started going and Morgan was almost asleep before this rude older man got on the train. He had his ipod up really loud so she could hear his music. She finally got out her Ipod and listened to that even though she didn't fall asleep again. We got off the train and hit the metro to get to school.
We were a little early for class so we sat in the student lounge for a little bit. I ate one of my Mars bars for breakfast and relaxed for a bit. We went up to class and had a little chat with our teacher cause we were the only ones there. Class started and we had a lecture first that I could brealy stay awake for. As soon as we had our break I laid my head down and instantly fell asleep. Morgan had to wake me up after the break and apparently she had been trying for like 10 minutes after our teacher was passing things out and told her she may wanna wake me up lol. We had a group project to work on and yet again it was astonishing how dumb the girls in our group are. We finished though and talked a little about our actually projects. After class we were going to go straight to the train station to get tickets to Paris for tomorrow but lunch smelled good so we got some fries first.
We took the bus to the metro and then to the train station. We found a really helpful lady who spoke English and she got us our tickets. We came home and finally showered and Morgan booked us a flight to Dublin for tomorrow and I got us a hostel for the weekend. After we got our plane confirmed we had to print off the boarding tickets so we had to go to school and print them off. We took the bus back and hit the ATM to get cash for tomorrow. We stopped at the store to get a baguette for each of us to take so we wouldn't have to buy food. I made us scrambled eggs and baguette for dinner. It was delicoius and I got some orange juice and pretty much drank the whole carton cause my throat hurts and I don't wanna get sick this month. We finished getting everything unpacked from yesterday and are working on getting packed for this weekend in Dublin.
I may be able to update you guys while we are in Dublin...we have free wifi at the hostel if we are there long enough for me to use it. We fly out of Paris to Dublin tomorrow morning and we will spend the evening touring Dublin and staying the hostel. We are going to Killarny National Park on Saturday to see the castles and Blarney Stone. We will stay in Dublin Saturday night and fly out late Sunday night back to Paris. We get back to Rennes Sunday night so we have some time in Paris on Sunday. I'll update when I can.

The Day After Disneyland Depression
Incase you couldn't tell by how much I wrote about Disneyland I loved it there!!!
I set my alarm for 9:30 so I could wake up and get ready for class and get my little bit of homework I had to do done before I needed to leave at 11 for class. I didn't actually get out of bed till about 9:53 becuase I was sore, cold, and tired. I didn't feel good and was all stopped up but I figured that was just from not getting much sleep all weekend. I got ready though and ate some frosted animal crackers while checking my email. I really wanted cereal but we had no milk. :( I had to write a few sentences describing myself in French for class and that was easy becuase we had examples on the paper she had given us in class. Morgan and I headed out to catch the bus and the only thing making it ok to go to school was that I was wearing my new Disneyland Paris shirt.
My teacher taught us vocabulary for the doctor and parts of the body today. Which is nice except if I'm actually sick enough to go to the doctor I'm not going to be practing my French then...I'll go to a doctore who speaks English. We had to pair off and write a dialog about being at the doctor. It wasn't bad but would be a lot easier if we actually knew some verbs to use. I understand they are teaching us the basics but learning doctor vocab and days of the week isn't as helpful as verbs and actual conversation things would be. After class I went to the student lounge to meet Morgan and start working on my Disneyland stuff. I ate the granola bar I brought with me but I still didn't feel very good so I thought maybe some real food and a soda would help. I went to the cafeteria but they don't take anything but cash...and I was fresh out. I finished typing up all of Saturdays events and put them online. I started on Sunday and then it was time to go up to Culture class. That little man teaches us nothing...he just talks about random stuff...so I kept working on Sundays events until my computer was about to die.
After class we met in the student lounge again so Morgan could finish uploading pictures to facebook. I haven't even started going through my pictures yet to get them on facebook...i'll work on that some tomorrow. I couldn't plug in my computer because there were no more open plugs so I just sat there and hung out. Finally an outlet opened up so I plugged in my computer except people kept tripping over my cord and one person almost pulled my computer off my lap. A couch opened up that was closer to where the outlet was so we moved over there before someone broke my computer. I wasn't in the mood to type though so I just talked to people on facebook and looked through everyones' stuff from over the weekend that I had missed. Morgan finally gave up at uploading pictures at 7 and I was starving. We got on the bus and got off to go to the ATM since we were both out of cash. We stopped at the grocery store and picked up some milk and baguette. I got cans of soda since normally my bottle goes flat just as I finish it and there is no way I wouldnt' waste it all with us traveling so much this month.
We got home and I immediately put the spaghetti we had in the microwave while I washed my hands and unloaded my backpack. I got the bread ready and when the spaghetti finished I put that in the microwave to heat up while I seperated the spaghetti. I got the butter and shredded cheese out and we sat down to enjoy dinner. It was yummy and I finally felt full. After dinner I got my computer and finally finished typing up Sunday at Disneyland and got that uploaded. I got us a hostel in Paris for Wednesday night when we get back from Germany since our train doesn't leave for here till the morning. I checked on Hostels in Dublin for this weekend and we are going to get those and a flight booked tomorrow at school. I'm going to go shower now though so I can get to bed becuase we have to sleep on night we have a chance since there are going to be very few of those this month.
We leave from Rennes tomorrow at 4:05 for Paris. We are taking a night train from Paris to Munich, Germany tomorrow night and spending Wednesday in Germany. We have another night train back from Munich and get into Paris around mindnight Wednesday night. We have a hostel right by the train station and then we leave for Rennes at 6 Thursday morning. We are going straight to class from the train station and then we will hang out for a little bit to get some stuff on the internet. I'll try to get some of my pictures sorted through on the trip so i can get them on facebook on Thursday. We'll be leaving again Friday morning for Paris to fly to Dublin, Ireland for the weekend. We'll spend Friday night in Dublin then spend all day Saturday in Killarney Park where all the castles are. We will stay in Dublin agian that night and fly out Sunday afternoon from Dublin again. We'll get back from Paris Sunday night.
I'll make sure and write whenever I can this week. I'll for sure write on Thursday at school about Munich and then Thursday night about the day and the weekend to come. It will either be Sunday night late or Monday before I can write again after that. I'm taking plenty of pictures so you guys can fill like you were there with us. Hopefully this lack of sleep won't catch up with us till we are done with this month becuase we are planning on having a blast and taking advantage of our easy schedules...for once in a lifetime...and train passes.

Disneyland Paris Day 3
5:45 was super early this morning. It was real hard to get out of bed but it was only worth it since we were going back to Disneyland!!! I got up, packed, and got ready to go down to put away our luggage before breakfast at 7. The luggage room didn’t open till 7 so we went and hung out in the reception until it opened since it was outside to wait for it to open. It wasn’t quite open at 7 but it opened a few minutes later. We dropped over our backpacks and headed into breakfast. I had 3 croissants with butter and strawberry jam and 2 glasses of pineapple juice. It was just as good today as yesterday. It filled me up to start out the day. I modeled on a horse in our arcade room before heading out to catch the bus. We were the first ones out there and bus came right away. Which as nice cause it was real cold outside.
We stopped on the way in and took pics of the castle since no one was in the park and we could get pictures without anyone else in them. After that we went straight to Space Mountain again because it’s the best ride in the park. It was painful again but still fun. We wanted to ride Buzz Lightyear next to give our bodies a break from the jarring of the ride. It was closed for some reason though…even though it had been open when we went past it before. We rode Space Mountain again since we didn’t want to leave Discovery Land yet. After we got off Space Mountain Buzz was open again so we rode it. There wasn’t a line so we stopped and took pictures of everything on the way into the actual ride. Morgan did awesome at the ride this time…she almost got to 100,000 points. I did horrible yet again. We went to Fantasy land again to ride the rides that are open early. We rode the Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups first. We each got our own tea cup and took pictures of each other. We rode the carousel again next and each got a giant horse on the outside of the ride. We took fun pictures while we were riding to keep from falling asleep since it was still early and the ride had low music and you rode in circles. We rode on Peter Pan again after the carousel. We still had some time to the park opened so we went back into Discovery Land to ride Space Mountain again before we wanted to get into line to ride Autropia when the park opened. Space Mountain still only had a 5 minute wait which is about as long as it takes to walk through the queue into the ride. We took pictures on our way in since there wasn’t really anyone else there.
We got done just as the park was opening and there was already a 30 minute wait for Autropia. It is a ride where you get to drive an old style Ford Mustang through roads and nature. Some of the cars have the steering wheel on the wrong side and I was hoping I didn’t get one of those. As we were walking into the ride the attendant made fun of Morgan cause she was fixing her hair from Space Mountain as we walked past him. We had some annoying children and families around us. The family in front of us had 3 children…a boy about 6, a girl about 4, and a little boy about 2. They would let the little boy roam around under the rails and the little girl too, but then they would decide he needed to come back and have the girl try to get him…but he’d get mad and cry because she was pulling on his arms. The dad would go get him and spank him…which I didn’t find fair. They would let the girl stay out there still and the older boy. Once they got the little boy calmed down they would let him out again just to repeat the whole cycle. The little kids behind us kept running into us and didn’t care that they were touching all over us. As we got close to being at the front of the ride the attendant there leaned back and made fun of Morgan again…it was the same guy. He let me get on the ride and kept her there to wait for the next cars and talked to her…in French only. She finally got on the ride and we took pics of each other. The ride was fun and once we got off as we were walking away the guy asked us if we wanted to ride again. It wasn’t really that fun and he kinda freaked us out so we said no thanks and kept walking.
We went and got in line to have our picture taken with the Princesses next. We had to wait forever and then they brought out Ariel and Eric but they went to a different platform then the one where the sign was. We kept waiting a few more minutes and Snow White and her Prince came out and we got out picture taken with them. As soon as we got done they did a switch and Cinderella took over for Snow White and Belle came out to take Ariel’s place. We didn’t want to wait in line again but we took pictures of Belle.
We were done with everything we wanted to do and see in Disneyland Park so we went back to Walt Disney Studios Park to finish up our day. We wanted to get our picture taken with Mickey…not in his Halloween costume…but the line was super duper long and it was getting close to time when we needed to go into the show we were going to see and we still had to eat lunch. We went back to the place we ate the first day and just split the meal. The lines were all really long so Morgan went to get us a table while I waited in line. The first line I picked wasn’t too long, I moved up a little and then the lady working said they were closing that station so we had to move…kinda annoying. I picked another line and stood there for like 5 minutes without moving at all. I could see another line a few places down that only had like 3 people in it so I moved there. I got our food really quick after that and then set out to find Morgan. She had found a table upstairs on a little balcony overlooking everything. I had noticed on the way up there that they hadn’t given me a knife which was going to make splitting our pizza and dessert difficult so I went back down to get one. When I finally got to eat it was delicious…as good as the first day and we were actually able to finish it this time. It was 1:10 and the show started at 1:45 so we headed over to get a seat.
We were going to see the Motuers Action! Show. It’s a stunt show where they show you stunts and how they perform them and then you get to see them all put together into a short movie. There were quite a few people already in front of us but we got right through the turn stiles and around the corner where they didn’t have the doors open yet and everyone was just in one huge herd. We got to see into where they work on the cars and keep all the tires…apparently they go through 60 tires a day with 3 shows. We didn’t have to wait very long though and they opened the doors. We got seats right in the middle a few rows up so we were high enough to see everything on the “stage.” While we waited for everyone to get in their seats and it to be time for the show to actually start they had a guy doing tricks on a motorcycle. He did some impressive stuff. When the show finally started they introduce everything about explain what the scene is about and then they perform it. After it’s over they explain to you how they did it and show you some tricks. They perform about 4 or 5 scenes and then they show you them all put together in a movie. At the end of the movie the hero jumps his car through a building right below the screen. Then they bring all the cars and motorcycles out that were in the show and the drivers get out or take of their helmets. These guys are amazing drivers…they do some crazy stuff everything goes perfect. It was an awesome show and I’m real glad we watched it.
When the show was over we went to the other side of the park to get our picture taken with the rat from Ratatouille. There was no line so that didn’t take long at all. We got done just about the time the Stars in Cars parade was about to start so we got places for that. It was super short but it was different from the other parade we had seen twice and we got some cool pictures. I also got to see Michael Jackson…an Asian lady was dressed in a long jacket with a hat on and she was wearing a mask on her face…she looked just like him…I of course took a picture.
We were right outside the Art of Animation attraction so we decided to do that while we were there. There were all different movie posters in the main lobby and then we got to watch a montage of the good scenes of a bunch of classic Disney movies in the theater part of the attraction. After that we went into another studio and got to see how characters are developed from start to finish. It was really interesting. There was a creepy little short man working that hit on both of us while we were waiting to go into the first theater. He asked us our names and when we told him he said no that they were Minnie and Mickey because of our ears.
After the Art of Animation we were walking past Tower of Terror which had had a 60 minute wait earlier when we went past only had a 15 minute wait. We wanted to ride it again so we got in line. The people working were the best we had seen yet. When we got down into the basement to get on the elevator Morgan was staring off while we waited in line and a worker came up and just stood right behind her. I was laughing so she knew what was going on but still jumped when she turned around. It was really funny. Another worker walked over after that and just touched a chain behind me and walked back off. A few minutes later he came back and just stood beside me. I started talking to him and asked if I could wear his hat. He nodded and tipped his head forward for me to take it, I put it on and he turned around and walked off. He got about 5 steps away and acted like he just realized his hat was gone and freaked out. He walked back really fast and tipped his head back forward and I put his hat back on. He was soo awesome. The actually ride was the best one we had been on too. We dropped a bunch of time and when we did the major drop we had gone up and not stopped before we started dropping and I didn’t even realize we weren’t going up anymore until my stomach was gone. It was an awesome feeling.
We were done with everything in Walt Disney Studios Park so we went back to Disneyland Park to ride the train around the park and buy everything we wanted before we headed back to the hotel to get our backpacks. When we were walking in we noticed the Mickey shaped flowers out front of the park and stopped and took pictures with it. It was so pretty. When we got inside we were going up to get on the train when we realized the parade was about to start again. We went up to the station and took pictures of the Halloween part of the Parade from above since we had missed some of it when they had gone around the corner yesterday. After that part of the parade was over we went to get on the train and the guy told us they were having problems and didn’t know when it would run again. We decided we would just walk over to Discovery Land and check out the Pizza Planet to see if it was modeled after the Pizza place in Toy Story like it was supposed to be. We had to maneuver around people waiting for the parade but we made it. Sadly it wasn’t open when we got there so we just took pictures of the sign and then went to go to the bathroom in Videopolis. My head was absolutely killing me at this point for some reason so I got a soda and some fries since it was like 6 and I hadn’t eaten since 1. We watched some old school Mickey cartoons while I ate and then went up to the Discovery Land Station to get on the train. We rode it all the way around the park and then to the Main Street Station. We got off and went to the Emporium to buy everything we wanted before we went back to our hotels. We got everything and headed out to catch the bus.
There were a lot of people waiting which meant it should be there soon and it was. There was a family with twin little boys probably about 6 months old in a stroller that was right in front of me. They little guys were so cute and they kept starting at me so I’d smile at them. The one that was closest to me kept rubbing his foot on my jeans…they were barefoot poor babies it was freezing outside. Then he took his hand and was rubbing it on my other leg and playing with my bag in my hand. They were so cute. When we got back to our hotel we went to find the Volcano that was by our actually building and took some pictures with it. Then we got our backpacks and walked back outside as a bus was pulling up. We got on and went back to Disney Village. We were both out of cash so we just found a place to sit down and people watch for a little bit until we walked over to the train station. I took a picture of the Patrick Swayze on the outside of Planet Hollywood while we waited.
We hobbled over to the train station and I had to pee before we got on the train. Sadly the bathroom costs money and I didn’t have any so we waited and I decided to go on the train. Once the train got there we only had enough time to get on board and it took off again. We got sat down and the guy checked our tickets. Now that we had sat down I didn’t feel like getting up and I didn’t really have to go to the bathroom anymore so I decided to wait. I got out my computer and uploaded my pictures from the day onto my computer. I worked a little on typing up everything we did Saturday before my head was hurting too bad to do anything. I was starting to feel sick so I turned off my computer and got out my ipod. I fell asleep pretty quick but didn’t sleep good my any means cause my head hurt so bad. I woke up as we were getting close to Rennes and got my ipod put away. We got off the train and onto the Metro which was luckily still running. We got off and it had been raining here but was thankfully done so we didn’t have to walk all the way back to our apartment in the rain. We got back and I got straight into the shower so that then I could unpack and get in bed since I had class at 11:30. My shower felt good since I was so sore from walking so much and then sitting still for 3 hours on the train. After my shower I pulled my phone out and put it on the charger so I could turn it on to text mom and let her know we had made it back alright. I unpacked my stuff and condensed everyone’s presents into one bag so I can leave it sitting out easier. I plugged my computer in so it could be charging so I could use it at school to type everything up and then put away the dishes Morgan had washed Friday before we left. We climbed in bed and fell asleep immediately.
We climbed in bed and fell asleep immediately.
Disneyland Paris Day 2...14 hs
Friday night when we showered we learned that instead of not having enough hot water…like at our apartment…we have way too much at our hotel! It was scalding hot or it was cold. We both took really really hot showers. It felt good though because we were freezing from being in the cold all day and our muscles were sore so it kept us from getting any tighter. We watched a little tv after we showered because we had Disney Channel in English. We fell asleep as soon as we turned off the lights. I don’t think I moved at all in my sleep. I sat my alarm for 6:15 but didn’t actually get up till 6:30. It was so cold in our room and it seemed like I had just fallen asleep. Morgan was already up though because she straightened her hair. I got up and we got ready and headed down to breakfast at 7.
They had fruit and pastries for breakfast. I had a bowl of fruit salad and 2 croissants with butter and strawberry jam on them. The croissants were delicious. I also had a cup of orange juice and some hot chocolate to try to warm up before venturing out into the cold for a 14 hour day of Disneyland!! We had a short photo shoot with the St. Louis sign on the outside of our hotel and then got on the bus to head off to the park for Extra Magic Hours. We got to spend 2 hours at the park with just the Disney hotel guests. If we thought the lines were short yesterday they were ridiculous this morning. We walked straight onto Space Mountain and then did it immediately again but it’s such an amazing ride. The only problem is for some reason it was really jerky and made both of our heads and necks hurt. We decided we were done with that one for the day.
We rode the Oribitron next since we hadn’t ridden it the day before. It was like Dumbo only you ride in a space ship and it’s a lot faster. Since there was very little line we each got our own space ship and took fun pictures while we were flying. It was a lot of fun and we got cool pictures of each other and the park because it was high but it was super cold since it was fast. We rode Buzz Lightyear again and I did just as bad…I’m just not good at shooting laser guns. We left Discovery Land and headed over to Fantasy land. They only had a few rides open early but they were ones we liked and wanted to ride again. We rode Dumbo first…it was cold and there was only one Dumbo left when we got on so we had to share and didn’t get the fun pictures we were hoping for. We rode Pater Pan again next because there was no line. It is a cool ride and we discovered new things about it since we were paying more attention to the details and not the overall ride this time. When you first take off from the houses window the houses get smaller and smaller under you until they are just lights. They are so realistic they have little tiny cars driving on the roads. Also when you are in Neverland you fly over volcanoes that have real lava in them. The lava looks like Styrofoam broken up into the tiny little balls and it has lights in it that turn the balls red, orange, & yellow as it blows around to look like it’s erupting.
The line for Lancelot’s Carousel was really short so we rode that before we went back to Main Street to get ready for the park to open for real. It was the biggest carousel I had ever seen…much less ridden. It was 5 rows deep and the horses just got bigger as they went outward. They were normal sized in the center ring and huge on the outside. They were gorgeous horses too and the carriages were huge too…big enough for like 8 people to ride in them. We each picked a horse and took pictures before the ride started. I enjoyed acting like a little kid and ridding the carousel again.
The park was going to be opening soon so we went make to Main Street so we could be at the entrance to Frontier Land. We wanted to ride Big Thunder Mountain as soon as it opened. It wasn’t quite time yet so we went into a little bakery on Main Street because it smelled amazing. They had all kinds of special things for Halloween. Morgan decided she wanted a cupcake with orange icing and a little ghost on top. I picked our cheesecake shaped like Mickey on a stick. It was coated in chocolate and covered in sprinkles. It looked so good…only one problem…it wasn’t cheesecake. It turned out to be meringue and I didn’t find this out until after I bit into it. I found out I don’t really enjoy meringue.
It was about five till 10 so we went back out to the entrance to Frontier Land. There was a huge crowd of people so we waited until the park opened. We weren’t quite sure where the ride was but once they opened the doors we followed all the people running. The ride wasn’t quite open yet so we stood in yet another crowd and had to fight to not be cut in front of. Once they opened the ride it went really quick and it was a fun ride. It was kinda like the Mine Train at Six Flags only bigger and faster. We wondered around Frontier Land for a while checking everything out. We took some fun pictures with a few more pumpkin statues. One was a cauldron with a hole for your head and I took Morgan’s picture in it. When she was getting out some lady was walking by and screamed so loud…apparently Morgan is scary…that lady is in for a shock if she rides some rides and she thought someone walking around a statue is scary.
We walked through Adventure Land while we were wasting time till the characters we wanted to see started at 11:15. The Indiana Jones ride only had a 5 minute wait so we rode that while we were there. It was really short. I think they spent more on the decorations then the actually ride. It was fun though just cold cause it was all outside. We took some pictures and then it was time to head back over to Frontier Land to start our character picture extravaganza. We started with Jack the skeleton man from The Nightmare before Christmas. His wife Sally was supposed to be there but she wasn’t yet since we were there at the very beginning but that was ok. Next we headed over to Woody’s Roundup. We thought it was just going to be Woody and Jesse from Toy Story but there were actually a lot of characters there. Chip & Dale were right inside the gate dressed up as ghosts. They kept acting like they were scaring people…it was hilarious. The first characters we took pictures with were Goofy & Pluto. Morgan went first and then me. Whenever I went in to have my picture taken Goofy had us play ring around the rosey first. Morgan got a good picture of us and it’s super funny. Next in line was Mickey & Minnie dressed in their Halloween costumes. Then we got to take pictures with Woody and Jessie. When Morgan was getting her picture taken Jessie wouldn’t pay attention…she was trying to talk to these girls across the area that she knew. Finally Woody just took a pic with Morgan and then Jessie posed in the front. She did the same thing with me too. After we finished up in Woody’s Roundup we got our faces painted by these ladies for free! I got a pumpkin on my face and Morgan got Jack. When we passed back by Sally was there so we got a picture of her but didn’t wait in line to get a picture with her. Went back to the entrance to Frontier Land and they had real life Pumpkin People to take pictures with…they were kind of weird but took fun pictures. When we finished up with them we left Frontier Land and went to Main Street to continue with the characters.
Pooh was first…or Winnie as they all call him here. A little boy in front of us in line kept hollering “Winnie, Winnie” trying to get Pooh’s attention. I was adorable. Pooh was dressed up as a bee so we have fun pictures with him. There were more Pumpkin People dressed differently on Main Street that we took pictures with too. We shopped a little while on Main Street and got to see Mary Poppins and the penguins with her. When we got done on Main Street we decided to eat lunch before we headed off on the rest of our day. We picked Casey’s Corner on Main Street were they specialize in hot dogs which sounded awesome. We each got a hotdog with cheese sauce, fries and a drink. We ate inside since it was still freezing outside…we needed a break from the wind. The hotdogs weren’t on buns…they were on a soft baguette with a slit in the middle for the hotdog to fit into. They were good and the fries were super hot. Once we finished we went through Fantasy Land to shop a little at a store Morgan wanted to see. On our way through Aurora…sleeping beauty…was on stage for her performance in front of the castle. After we looked through the store we rode the Snow White ride. It was like the Peter Pan ride except we were in cars named after the 7 Dwarfs and we got see the story of Snow White. After the ride we went onto Adventure Land to try to see Aladdin. We looked around all the little stores right there until he was supposed to show up…which he never did. We looked at all the Princess dresses wishing they came in our sizes. When we finally gave up on him showing up we went to Adventure Isle to explore. You could look through part of a cave thing and go up into the Swiss Family Robinson’s treehouse. We had pretty much seen and done everything in Adventure land we thought so we went back to Fantasy land. We finally found the Storybook ride we had taken a picture of from the Queen of Hearts castle the first day. You rode in a little boat through all the countries of the storybooks. They were all so tiny and intricate it was awesome. We checked out the list of rides once we were done and realized we had one more ride we hadn’t done yet because it was hidden and we hadn’t seen it yet. It was Star Tours…based on Star Wars. It was a simulator that took us on a rough flight through space. It kinda made me sick…I didn’t really enjoy it a lot.
After Star Tours it was time for the parade again. There was a special Halloween parade before the one we watched yesterday so we wanted to see it. I got us our free hot chocolates again while Morgan got us seats. We sat on the opposite side of the street so we could see the other side of the floats in the main parade. There was still like 20 minutes till the parade started so the cast members that were on the street to make sure everyone stayed out of the way of the floats started playing with all the little kids. It was really cute. The Halloween parade was the pumpkin people dancing around and the villain son a float. It was really fun. We also got to see the other side of the floats from yesterday and that was cool cause we missed some major stuff and hadn’t even realized it.
When the parade was over we headed back into Adventure Land because when we had found out we missed Star Tours we also saw that there was an Aladdin walk through story that we hadn’t seen. When we got there we realized we had taken pics of it that morning when we were waiting for Aladdin and hadn’t realized it wasn’t just a restaurant. It was really cool and had little window like things that told the story. We wondered around for a while looking at more stores and through Adventure Land. We found stuffed animals that looked like our ears so we took pictures with them. We also found this back rock formation with a waterfall and took some pictures there. We were heading back to Main Street get our ice cream dinner before the Mickey’s Party with Villains show and we saw the villains passing us and took a few pictures.
We got our dinner at Gibson Girls’ Ice Cream Parlor. We each had a waffle cone with 2 scoops of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream…chocolate fudge brownie and cookie dough. They were amazing even though it was freezing standing outside eating them while waiting for the show to start. The show was pretty good. It was Mickey and his friends dancing with a bunch of cast members. The villains showed up at the end. They danced some too and I got a ton of pictures. The villains stayed in the front of the stage for a long time after the show so we got pictures of them up close. Morgan really wanted a picture with the witch from Sleeping Beauty but we couldn’t get close enough and then the cast members made them leave just as we got to the front to talk to her. We were sad.
It was getting dark so we went to ride Phantom Manor in the dark. We took pictures out front in the coffin before we went it. It wasn’t really any different in the dark but we were able to figure out when we fell out the window and died on the ride. When we got out of the ride it was completely dark so we took cool pictures of all the tombstones outside the ride. I learned that my camera is really bad at taking night pictures. After we got done taking pictures of the tombs we went back to Main Street to take pictures of the castle all lit up at night. It looked awesome. Main Street itself was lit up too so we took pictures of that as well. We didn’t really have anything left that we wanted to accomplish before the park closed in like 2 hours so we walked through the other 3 lands so we could take pictures of everything lit up at night. It looks so different at night than it does during the day. When we were in Adventure Land taking pictures of Agrabah in the dark I looked down in a gift shop and they had a whole basket of American license plates. Right on top was a Missouri plate…I had to take a picture with it cause it was just too cool.
We went back to Main Street to go through all the stores and pick out everything we wanted to buy Sunday so we wouldn’t have to waste time looking when we could still be riding rides on our last day. Also so we knew how much we could spend on lunch tomorrow and still be able to get everything. I picked out something for everyone and then it was 5 minutes till the park closed. We went back out to in front of the castle and took pictures of it lit up without anyone in front to it. We also took more pictures of Main Street without a ton of people on it. We finally left the park and headed out to the bus stop. We saw this building in Disney Village that had neon lights on the side. It showed you everything it had inside in pictures. We waited there to get a picture of the bowling pins and ball. We walked to the bus stop and saw that a bus was sitting there so we started running trying to catch it…it of course pulled away right before we got to it. We got to wait for that bus to get to our hotel, drop the people off, and get back to pick us up. It took a while and a ton of people showed up while we were waiting so we were crammed on the bus when it did get back. Our hotel was all lit up when we got back so we took pictures outside in the cold before we went in. I needed some real food since we had only had ice cream for dinner…I wasn’t feeling very good…so I stopped in the bar and got a sandwich and a soda and we went up to our room. Morgan showered while I ate my dinner and then I jumped in while she got ready for bed. The amazingly hot water felt amazing as sore as we both were. Lying in bed felt even better though. I turned the tv off once I climbed into bed and we were both out instantly. We had our alarms set for 5:45 Sunday morning so we could get up and packed and drop our backpacks off in the luggage room before breakfast.
Disneyland Paris Day 1
Today is at the top of the list as one of the best days of my life.
We got up at 4 this morning to get ready for Disneyland!!!! We left our apartment at 5 to walk to the metro station. We got on the first metro that ran at 5:15. We got to the train station at about 5:30 and our train didn’t leave till 6:10. We had time to check the board for where our train was going to come in and relax for a second. When they posted which platform our train would be on we headed down there. We got there just as our train was pulling in and we climbed on board. Right before the train was supposed to leave this lady came down and put her stuff on board and got back off to return her cart she had used…we watched her run with the train as we pulled out…guess she wasn’t going on the same trip as her luggage. We both fell asleep pretty much as soon as the train took off. We woke up at like 8:30 and had our tickets checked before we arrived at the train station at 9. When we got to the train station we walked out the door…and the guy at the train station in Rennes wasn’t lying…we could see Disneyland!!!
We walked through Disney Village…the shopping and restaurants…heading toward our hotel. We got to see pretty much all the hotels since ours is one of the farthest from the park…which is why it was the cheapest. We got to our hotel and we were able to check in…even though it was only 10 am. We got in our room and put our stuff down. We decided to each have one of our granola bars we bought so we could eat a late lunch and not have to eat dinner till we got back to our hotel tonight. We fixed our hair since we had slept on the train and headed out to get the bus. It came pretty quickly and we were on our way back to the parks!!!!
We went to Disney Studios first because it had just a few rides we wanted to hit and the parade we wanted to see was at 5 in Disneyland. We rode Tower of Terror and it was amazing…and the wait was only 10 minutes. We went to ride Crush’s Coaster…from Finding Nemo…next but it had a 45 minutes wait time. The Flying Carpets of Agrabah…from Aladdin…instead of waiting in line. It was pretty much like Dumbo but it was flying carpets instead of Dumbos. We decided to go get fastpasses for Rocking Roller Coaster and then wait in line at Crush’s Coaster, but once we got there there was only a 10 minutes wait. We rode it once and it was awesome so we immediately rode it again. On our way back to Crush’s Coaster we passed Tower of Terror again and it only had a 15 minute wait so we rode it again while the line was short. That ride is pretty cool. Every time you ride it you drop at different rates and a different amount of times before you drop the major time. Sadly Morgan and I discussed the engineering of the ride once we got off. Even in France we can’t get away from our true callings. We got back to Crush’s Coaster and it only had a 35 minute wait…which ended up being the longest wait we had the entire day. It was a pretty cool ride but not what we expected at all. You sat in a shell with four seats facing outward. You explored the EAC…Eastern Australian Current with Nemo and Crush.
We were starting to get a little hungry since it was after 1 so we headed back towards the entrance of Disney Studios were there were a ton of restaurants. We found a place that had pizza and they had an awesome deal for a full meal. You got a main food, a side item, dessert, and a drink for 12.30 Euros. We got cheese pizza, fries, and I got a tiny chocolate cake and Morgan got a Doughnut type pastry that was filled with chocolate and we split our desserts. We took picture of our food before we ate because it was so much food. We were determined we were going to finish it all and we failed miserably. I left about a third of my pizza…pretty much all my fries (I think I ate like 2)…and some cake and doughnut (that should tell you how full we were). We had to take more pics when we were done to prove how horribly we failed. We decided if we ate there again on Sunday we would just split one meal. When we were paying for lunch the guy gave us a coupon for a free hot drink that was good at a ton of store today from 3 to 7.
We went to the main park after lunch to hit some rides before the parade. We went to Discovery Land first and rode Space Mountain Mission 2. This is the best ride we rode the entire day…if not ever!!! It was kinda like Mr. Freeze in the way it took off but the ride was inside a building in pitch black and you fly through space with asteroids, the moon, and stars everywhere. The whole ride is super fast and has spins and upside down parts. You also think it’s over several times just to drop and get started all over again. Before we had even completely stopped I asked if we could ride it again…and we did…right then. We rode Buzz Lightyear next which is just like the Scooby Doo ride at Six Flags…you ride through the ride shooting bad guys with your laser gun. We stopped and pottied after that and figured out what we wanted to do the rest of the day.
We went to fantasy land next and explored everything in Playful Architecture. We rode Small World first which is where you ride through and see tiny people acting our every country in the world and small versions of major landmarks. We rode the teacups and then went into the Queen of Hearts Labyrinth. It was pretty tricky and we ended finally making in through and we ended up at the Queens castle. We rode the Peter Pan ride and Pinnochio next. They were pretty much like Small World except they told each story through scenes in the ride. Once we got off Pinnochio it was almost time for the parade to start. We went through Aurora…sleeping beauty…’s castle. It was gorgeous. The architecture was amazing and the stained glass told the story and that was some awesome stained glass. There were owls everywhere because they are in the story. We went to leave thinking we were done and we ended up in the dungeon where they had a dragon. It was animatronic and growled. It kinda scared us so I know it had to be freaky for small children.
It was 4:30 and we wanted to get a place for the parade. Morgan staked out prime seats for us and I went to cash in our free hot drink coupons we got with lunch. We enjoyed our hot chocolate while we waited for the parade to start. When it finally did it was so much fun. We watched the “Dreams Come True Parade” so it had all the princesses in it. After the parade we went into Adventure land to ride the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. It wasn’t that good. It was like Peter Pan and just told the store while you floated along. It did have a few drops in it but nothing too spectacular. We were running out of time before the park closed at 7 and we wanted to at least get in the Haunted Mansion. We went to Frontier Land and found the ride. It was pretty cool but nothing to amazing…and not scary. Apparently I missed a key point and Morgan missed to she only knew about it because of everything she has read about Disney. We are going to make sure we ride it again so maybe we can figure it out.
It was 10 till 7 so we headed back towards the entrance were they were already starting to decorate for the Halloween stuff that starts tomorrow. They had a ton of Pumpkin head people acting like they were painting the street orange and were set up for awesome pictures. We prolly took about 50 pictures with all the ones they had set up. It was a little after 7 when we were done so we headed over to Disney Village to shop a little. We both really wanted Mickey ears to wear tomorrow since everyone will be dressed up for the Halloween stuff…and a ton of people were wearing them today. We finally found some we liked at the last store we went in. Morgan got pink princess ears with a tiara and veil attached on a headband. I got Mickey ears on a headband that have a little blue hat like the one he wears in Fantasia. I can’t wait to wear them tomorrow.
We headed back to the hotel just in time to catch the bus heading that way outside Disney Village. When we got back we stopped to get some food. Since our hotel is the Hotel Santa Fe it was a tex mex buffet and a bar in it. We were going to eat the buffet but it was ridiculously expensive and we weren’t really hungry. We decided just to get margaritas at the bar and some nachos with salsa. I was yummy but the frozen margaritas didn’t help that our hotel doesn’t have central air. It’s cold here…did I mention that yet. We both wore jeans and jackets pretty much all day. After we finished our dinner we came back up to our room. Luckily we have a little heater like in most hotels so we won’t freeze tonight. We uploaded our pictures onto our computers and are charging our batteries. Mine died before we got to the pumpkin people but luckily Morgan’s old camera…that she had with us in case she filled up her new ones memory card…used the same battery as mine and I stole it so I could take more pics. We both didn’t realize how tired and sore our feet were until we sat down on the beds to type up what we had done today.
I’m going to hope in the shower now though so we can get to bed before too long. We are getting up at 6:15 so we can eat at 7 when our reservations are. We get to go to the parks at 8 in the morning for special Magic Hours for Disney Hotel guests only. They parks normally don’t open till 10 so we get 2 hours of less people…not that the lines were bad today anyway…but it’s extra time that we are going to take advantage of. The park stays open till 10 tomorrow so we will be there for about 14 hours. We will need every minute of it to take in the rides…sites…and characters which we barely saw today. Tomorrow starts the Halloween stuff so there will be extra characters since the villains will be here too. The regular characters will also be in costume so we will have tons of pictures to take. I’ll make sure and write again tomorrow so that I don’t leave anything out for you guys. Shower time!
We got up at 4 this morning to get ready for Disneyland!!!! We left our apartment at 5 to walk to the metro station. We got on the first metro that ran at 5:15. Gotta Love Stupid People
We got up this morning and went to school for our meeting about our advertising topic with our group. We finally convinced the girl that it didnt have to be a problem and that we had all semester to actually do the project we just needed an idea today. We decided on Ford Enthanol vehicles focusing on the American market. We went up to class and he passed out the slide show for today. It only had 3 slides!! He explained to us about new media and that each group was going to research one media and give a short presentation on it at the end of class. We had mobile tv. Morgan did the research while the other 2 girls set up the powerpoint. I looked up material on Ford ethanol cars so we would have facts to tell our teacher when he came to discuss our project topics with our group. Side note...we think the other girls in our group are mentally slow. They don't know enough English to function and that makes it difficult to work in a group. After Morgan typed in all the info for the powerpoint since she had researched it one girl went back through and tried to change all the English to the way she says it...which is wrong!!! It's frustrated but we are trying to be patient and just venting to each other. Anyone that knows the 2 of us knows that we are not quiet people. We walked out off class, down 2 flights of stairs and into the cafeteria before either one of us spoke because we were so shocked at how dumb they both are.
After we ate our lunch we went into the student lounge to print off our conformation stuff for Disneyland. First we had to purchase copies and convert them into prints using this machine outside the library. Everytime we would try to print we kept getting an error message and we weren't sure what to do. Luckily IT was open so we went up there and waited in line. We got in pretty quickly but the guy said we had an unusual problem and he had to call and have someone else come help us. We wait outside the room for about 30 minutes...I had to turn off my computer becuase it was about to die. When the guy finally showed up they told him he was supposed to help us and then he went in the room and helped this other chick...who got there after us...for about 15 minutes. When he finally came out he had us show him what was wrong. He had us download the conformation instead of just printing off the internet. He had us try to just print a regular word document and that worked perfectly. He had to go do something so I decided...since my computer was about to die...to try and just print the saved document. IT WORKED!!!! We finally had our conformation almost 2 hours after we started.
We left school and headed to the train station to return the ridiculously expensive 1st class tickets the genious lady sold us yesterday. Only one person had that they spoke English on their screen so we waited for that station. When we walked up the lady totally only spoke like 5 words in English. We explained what happened and told her we just wanted to return all the tickets for that weekend. She pulled out her book and started looking up how to find 2nd class tickets with our passes. After about 15 minutes and 10 times of us saying that she finally got that we just watned to cancel our tickets. It took another 15 minutes for her to actually cancel the tickets and then they put the money all on one card. Luckily we were going to the ATM anyways.
We took the metro back to the ATM and got out our cash for Disneyland. The weirdo gay guy who talked to us forever at the train station in Paris and Rennes...remember him...was behind us at the ATM. I didn't realize till we were walking away but it was kinda creppy cause I had just said yesterday it was weird we hadn't ever seen him again. We stopped at the store for a small baguette so we could have some bread with dinner and then got home. We paid our rent for October and finally made it back home after 4 when we left at 9 this morning. I tried to call UPS to figure out about my package that is stuck somewhere. They were not helpful but said they would call back. After an hour of waiting I called again and the guy said he didn't speak English but told me perfectly in English...when I asked if anyone around him spoke English...that everyone around him spoke French. I said thank you and hung up. I called right back and got the same guy I think. I asked again if he spoke English and he said no...I asked to be transfered to someone who did becuase I was sick of calling. He transfered me. This lady was a little more helpful but still had no idea why my package wasn't here. About 30 minutes later our phone rang with some lady telling me she would have someone call me on Monday...since I wont be here tomorrow...to get the information they need to deliver my package.
We had butter noodles for dinner with our baby baguette. It was yummy. I took a shower to try and make my horrible headache go away...I'm sure it is from all the stress of dealing with annoying people today. We just finished up packing and are about to get into bed since we have to be up at like 4 to get on the metro and take the bus at 6 to Disneyland!!! We are so excited...you would think 2 little kids lived in our room the way we have been acting all afternoon...and week really!!! I'll try to update yall if I have internet but we arent sure. If not i'll write what I can on Monday at school. We don't get back till like midnight sunday night.
